2009 - Cycle Mesabi's 20th year!
Although I swore mightily to God that I was not going to do even this much anymore, I couldn't allow Henry to be the only one working on this great new idea for our upcoming ride season. He already has worked hard enough.
Back at Hugh's pizza party in October, Dave and Darlene had an idea of assigning rides to each Tuesday and Thursday nights instead of names of members who then had to come up with a route for that evening. While we had been doing it this way for 19 years, it didn't take long for the rest of us to see that this new way would be much simpler and better. (Click Below to Read More)
With Henry's new, super map making soft wear, the design of the route can now be shown in living color, and several other ways as well! So one cold night in February, aren't they all?, Henry, Sheri, George, Lynn, and Molly met at the Chinese Buffet and came up with 25 different rides we could do; one for each Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The rides would be posted on the website, and all you would have to do is simply go to www.cyclemesabi.com and find out what ride has been scheduled for that evening and show up for it or not. Henry plans to begin the year with shorter rides as we try to get back in biking shape, which seems to be harder to do each year, gradually assigning longer rides as we get into summer until the end of June. Then he will map out gradually shorter rides for July, August, and September as we lose sunlight.
We will start this merry circus on Tuesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 16th. The season should last the normal 25 weeks. Sprinkled in among the rides will be four Transport Rides for the Thursday night people, and two Transport Rides for the Tuesday night crowd.
Now if you are not on the Web, but you have heard of this new deal from someone in the club who is, please ask he or she to print off a copy of the ride schedule for you. Please understand how much effort Henry has put into this deal and say thanks.
The Mesabi Trail will begin or complete five or six new sections of the trail in 2009. It will be a busy summer!
OK, see you on the 14th if you like the look of the ride, or on the 16th if that ride looks better, or whenever you decide to join us. You will have a ride you can see the map of for every night of the season right in front of you.
Thanks,
Ed and the Mollster.
